Until that, i thought of looking back a little bit, starting with the music i listened to this past year. In no certain order:
The Black Keys: Attack and Release
This is a great record. I'm following up their albums since my father played one of their songs 2 or 3 years ago. They are still unbelievebly fresh and powerfull - the crazy-ish vocals, the rawness, the sloppy instruments...
Fleet Foxes: Fleet Foxes
Quite a special one - i tend to lose it among the dance music in my playlist, but coming back to it is always like a trip to the alps - wonderful panoramas of sounds. "Blue Ridge Mountains" sums it up ;)
Death Cab for Cutie: Narrow Stairs
Just got this one. I listened to Death Cab before but they seemed too mellow for my taste - well this album stunned me!
The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely
Still can't decide if i like this version of Jack Black better then the White Stripes scenario... i think i do... it's more "down to earth" music, and the Consolers is such a complex album in comparison with what they did before
Minotaur Shock - Amateur Dramatics
Just discovered them (him?)- it's stunning! Love the whole classical instruments/electronic combination. What can be more charming then a clarinet and a bassoon on top of cool beats ? :D

Yeah ok, this totally doesn't sound like 2008 music, it qualifies in the revival of the 80's. But it impressed me- it's the best that the 80's had plus something something. I get quite mellancholic when i listen to this.

I still like them, even this last album - it's still bold and raw as i like it :D; vocalist Alison is a bad ass among the whole wave of "cool powerful female rock stars" :))
